When Should I Schedule an Appointment for My New Puppy or Kitten?

Puppies and kittens get health immunity from their mothers for the first few weeks of life. We like to see your new pet by the time it is six or eight weeks old, to begin a series of vaccinations and to give it its first wellness examination.

What Happens During a Wellness Examination?

Whether it is for a brand new puppy or a senior cat, wellness exams are a nose to tail exam to make sure your pet is free from disease or other health problems. We will weight and measure your pet, check its ears and mouth, look at its skin and fur and exam the general body for any problems that might arise. We will also administer any needed vaccinations during the exam. Puppies and kittens need a series of four during their first year, and grown dogs and cats need booster shots every year to keep their immunity up.

How Long is a First Wellness Exam

An animal's first exam will naturally last longer than subsequent ones because we will be getting to know your new little animal. Most wellness visits last half an hour or less, unless we find something to be concerned about.

What Services Do You Offer Besides Exams?

We are a full-service animal clinic. Our veterinarian team offers a long list of veterinary services, including:

  • Allergy testing, along with flea and tick control

  • Cold laser therapy and pain management

  • Emergency surgery, including x-rays and an onsite laboratory

  • Exotic, small animal and avian care
